James Palon, Sr., died at his home here last Friday afternoon of a cancer of the throat. He was born in Canada in December, 1827. He was an old pioneer resident of this place, having come here several years before the civil war. The funeral was held in the Holy Cross church Sunday afternoon at 2:30. Rev. Edward assisted by Engle Grau officiated. The interment was made at Northfield. He leaves nine children, Mrs. Julia Kennedy, of Monticello Mrs. Jane Clydsdale, of Canada Mrs. Barbara Gates, of this place and John, James, Arthur and Edmond Palon, of this place Abram Palon, of Beardsley and Edson Palon, of Minneapolis, to mourn his loss, his wife having died several years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy, of Monticello, Mrs. Edson Palon and daughter, Clara, of Minneapolis Mr. and Mrs. Dixon, of Morristown Mr. and Mrs. Abram Palon and two daughters,Clara and Bertha, of Beardsley and Mr. and Mrs. George Lyman, of Northfield, attended the funeral.
