He died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at Fremont Area Medical Center.He was born Aug. 23, 1919, in Cozad to Peter and Andrea (Jensen) Nielsen. His early years were lived on the farm near Cozad, and he then moved with his family to the Bancroft area in 1926. He moved to the Basford area near Lyons in 1936. He married Ruth Lindstrom on May 20, 1943, in Oakland. She preceded him in death June 28, 1953. He farmed during these years. He married Bernice Moseman Carlson on July 20, 1956. The couple lived and farmed in the Lyons area. They moved to Fremont in December 1969. He worked for Daubert Construction for several years in Fremont and also did general repair work in this area. His wife, Bernice, preceded him in death Aug. 18, 2004.Survivors include: three daughters, Beverly (Mrs. Curt) Rehbein of Hastings, Evelyn (Mrs. Jim) Cuckler of Sugar Hills, Ga., and LaRita (Mrs. Allan) Showers of St. Joseph, Mo.; three sons, Orville (and wife, Marian) Carlson, Don L. (and wife, Deby) Nielson, all of Fremont, and Rod (and wife, Jayne) Nielsen of Omaha; a brother, Jack (and wife, Betty) Nielsen of Lyons; eight sisters-in-law, Betty Moore of Oakland, Delores Nielsen of Lyons, Lorelei Wickstrom of Omaha, LaVerne Moseman of Fremont, Eunice (Mrs. Lloyd) Persson of Oakland, Elfie Nelson of Oakland, Betty (Mrs. Chuck) Rogers of Oakland and Ione (Mrs. Lorin) Lipps of Tekamah; a brother-in-law, Vincent (and wife, Rita) Lindstrom of Oakland; 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.He also was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
The Rev. Anjanette Rist will officiate Friday's service. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Oakland.
