My beloved Aunt Mary, paternal aunt, daughter of Clyde Core Mahaffey (1886-1940) and Portia Grace Fielder (1884-1963). Sister of my father, John C. Mahaffey,and my uncles, Richard Mahaffey, and James Fielder Mahaffey. Mary loved reading, traveling, and writing letters to her nieces. She worked as an office assistant in medical offices her whole life. She once told me she wanted to join the WACS during World War II, but all 3 of her brothers were enlisted and they wanted her to stay with their mother, who was long widowed. She never married and took care of my Grandma Grace until she died, and then my Uncle James until he died.
