Patricia "Pat" "Golden Grandma" passed away unexpectedly at her home on Sunday. Pat was born in Grand Rapids, MI to Albert & Catherine (Schwallier) Davey. She was the oldest of five children. Pat attended Aquinas College where she majored in social work. On Oct. 31, 1947, Pat was united in marriage to Raymond Hamilton. Pat and Ray divorced in 1972 but remarried 20 years later in 1992 and they enjoyed a seven-year second honeymoon traveling several times to Europe and around the U.S. Raymond passed away in February 1999. In 1965-66, while Pat and her family were living in Coral Gables, FL, Pat pursued a lifelong interest in art and design by returning to college where she earned an associate's degree in interior design. She later worked as an interior designer for Macy's Department Store and, after she moved with her family to Madison, she worked for Frautschi's Furniture Store and later managed Gruber's Pilgrim Place in Middleton and Lighthouse Interiors on Sherman Avenue. Pat was an active member of the First Unitarian Society where she sang in the choir and made many lifelong friends. Pat was twice elected president of the FUS Women's Alliance. In 2002, Pat moved to Oakwood West where she discovered and developed her considerable talent as a watercolorist. Pat was an Anglophile and a bibliophile extraordinaire. She was an enthusiastic member of the "Book Babes" and an avid fan of her "English Cozies." She is survived by her two daughters, Leslie (Wayne Block) Hamilton and Linda Hamilton; four grandchildren, Laura (Garry) Anderton, Carmen (Bill Buchanon) Waldschmidt, Carla Hamilton and Anthony Hamilton; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Margaret MacIntire of Mackinac Island, Mich., and Mickey Jackman of Delaware. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Pat was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond H. Hamilton; a sister; and a brother. A memorial services was celebrated on Wednesday, Aug. 8 at the First Unitarian Society Meeting House with the Rev. Michael Schuler presiding. Cress Funeral and Cremation Service assisted with arrangements. Her obituary and a photo can be found in the Wisconsin State Journal on June 8, 2010.
