STOKESDALE — Mr. Robert L. ‘Tag' Walker, 90, passed away on Thursday April 26, 2012 at Beacon Place.

Mr. Walker's funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, at Forbis & Dick Brooke Chapel with Rev. Tony Dowdy and Rev. Bryan Fox officiating. Interment will be private.

A Guilford County native, Mr. Walker was born on November 29, 1921, the son of the late Robert G. and Della Isley Walker. The family farm was located where the Burlington Industries building sits, and this is where Tag began farming and learned the value of a good work ethic. He enjoyed boating and water skiing, golfing, and gardening, giving away the produce of his garden to friends and neighbors.

He was a longtime volunteer firefighter in Stokesdale, and a member of the Stokesdale Moose Lodge.

Surviving are his daughters Pat Pegram and her husband, Solomon, of High Point, and Rhonda Hand and her husband, Steve of Stokesdale; a sister Dorothy Smith of Archdale; brothers Lewis Walker of Oak Ridge, Carter Walker of Madison, Paul Walker of Greensboro, Clyde Walker of Archdale and Charles Walker of Stokesdale; three grandchildren Stephen Taylor Hand, Kyle Pegram (Suzannah), and Dawn Musil (Scott); and five great grandchildren Mackenzie, Hayden, Tanner, Sam, and Maxton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Nelson Walker, brothers Alfred Walker, Norman ‘Tim' Walker, and Garl Walker; and sisters Carlene Williams and Lilah Campbell.

The family will receive friends this evening, Friday, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
