Harry's father, Harvey Senft, was a property master at the Old York Opera House, Beaver Street, York, Pennsylvania. After his parents died, Harry's uncle and aunt, George S. and Louise (Senft) Fry, raised him.
During World War II, he joined the U.S. Army and served in the 116th Infantry Regiment, in Europe, Harry was part of the invasion of Normandy, France. He acted as squad leader and was awarded a number of distinguishing medals, including the bronze star. After his discharge on October 9, 1945, he returned to York, Pennsylvania to his family.
Harry rejoined the work force and ultimately became the manager of a number of tire service distributors. Known as a dedicated worker and loyal family man, "Hap" possessed a jovial personality and consequently, was well loved by family and friends.
His untimely death had a devastating effect on his wife and his children. His wife was Gertrude Mae Guyer; they were married 29 Apr 1939 in York, York, Pennsylvania. Gertrude was born on 21 Dec 1923; and she died on 30 Sep 1993. Harry was buried with his parents on 16 Aug 1965 in Greenmount Cemetery, York, Pennsylvania.
Harry was honored by the Historic Prospect Hill Cemetery of York when they placed his name on the Statue of Valor as receiving a Bronze Star during WWII.

OBITUARY: Harry E. Senft, 44, husband of Mrs. Gertrude M. Guyer Senft, 576 West Philadelphia Street, died yesterday at his place of employment, the U.S. Royal Tire Center, 1590 Whiteford Road.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at 1:20M, at Memorial Osteopathic Hospital
He was a veteran of World War II. Surviving in addition to his wife, are five children: George E. Senft, 231 Heistand Road; Mrs. Anna Miller and Harry E. Senft, both of 2448 South Queen Street; Mrs. Shirley Webb, Airville; and Florence C. Senft, at home; seven grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Florence Myers, 215 East Philadelphia Street.
The Rev. Preston Haugh, pastor of Felton E.U.B. Church, will conduct the funeral Monday at 10AM, at the Edward W. Baumeister Colonial Mortuary, South Queen and Jackson streets.
Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
