John passed away on Fri., April 27, 2012. He was 65. John was born April 15, 1947 to John Norman and Marvella Hamilton Calvert at Hilcrest Hospital in Tulsa, OK.

He graduated from McClain High School in 1965, and joined the US Army in 1966 where he served as military police.

John was a welder, auto/body/paint mechanic, machinist, and worked in steel fabrication. He finished his career at American Airlines where he retired in 2009.

John's hobbies included being an amateur flat-track motorcyle racer, building dirt bikes and sponsoring young and upcoming racers. The greatest legacy he left for his family and friends was the way he lived and the role model he provided for us all.

John is survived by his wife of thirty-two years; five children and spouses; fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and two brothers and their wives.

He was preceded in death by his father John Norman Calvert and his mother Marvella Calvert Dean.

Service for John Richard Calvert will be Tues., May 1, 2012 at First United Methodist Church, Claremore. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Rice Funeral Service. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Mon. April 30, from 2—7.
