Winifred J. Addison PONCA, Neb. - Winifred J. Addison, 88, of Ponca died Saturday, May 5, 2001, at a Sioux City hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Ponca with the Rev. Cindi Prather officiating. Burial will be in Ponca City Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the church. Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Addison was born Nov. 21, 1912, in Newcastle, Neb., the daughter of Thorval "Toby" and Ida (Peterson) Anderson. She graduated from Maskell High School in 1930. She married Irving "Red" Addison Sr. on Jan. 1, 1931. They farmed south of Newcastle until 1967, when they moved to Ponca. She played piano for the theater in Maskell during the silent movie era. Mr. Addison died May 6, 1996. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Ponca, New castle Rebekah Lodge 196, and American Legion Auxiliary in Newcastle. She enjoyed bingo, playing cards and traveling. Survivors include four sons, Irving Jr., Larry and his wife, JoAnn, Jerry and his wife, Jeannie, all of South Sioux City, and James and his wife, Betty Jo of Fremont, Neb.; a daughter and her husband, Waleen "Wally" and Joe Gifford of Valentine, Neb.; two sisters, Lenora "Tood" and her husband, Gordon Nelson of Ponca, and Melvina "Mel" Palmer of Eldon, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilodyne Domsch and Agnes Pearl; and a brother, Leland Anderson. Pallbearers will be Tony Stark, Tim Hangman, Joe McCardle, Lyle "Buck" Calvert, Gary Bennett and Roger Bostwick.
