John Barker was born in 1752 in Scituate, MA, the son of Barnabas and Sarah (Greene) Barker. John came to Rindge, NH with his parents, siblings and three aunts in 1780. John married, December 7, 1795, Hannah Smith, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Morrison) Smith of Peterborough, NH. John and Hannah had two children, they were farmers and resided at the farm later of Stephen Hale. Hannah died August 28, 1813. John married 2nd, Sally (Crombie) Barker the widow of his brother David, she was the daughter of Lieut. James and Mary Crombie. John was killed by a bull on July 25, 1819, aged 67 years.
