Major-General, Indian Staff Corps. He served in the Punjaub Campaign, 1848-1849 and was appointed 1st Grade Deputy Commissioner, Assam (Goalpara), in 1867.
: He was married at Dibroogarh, Assam, India, 10 January 1859, to Mary Phayre PIGOTT, a daughter of Lieutenant Charles Caesar Pemberton PIGOTT, Bengal Infantry, and Mary Fraser HANNAY.
His widow Mary died at Ealing, Middlesex, 8 May 1917, aged 79.
