The graduating class of the Davis high school is this year composed of eleven girls and three boys, viz; Blanche French, Beatrice Greer, Gladys Hutchins, Ruth Kennedy, Lucile Parker, Elizabeth Pattison, Carolyn Pullen, Vera Raines, Laura Turner, Clifford Walkup and Addie Belle Ware, Wallace Dinsmore, Richard Morton and Kirk Henington.

Dr. Kirk Henington and family are visiting relatives and friends here. They have been living at Seminole for some time but probably will locate at Ardmore, where Dr. will practice his profession – chiropractic. He is well known here, having spent his boyhood days in Davis.

Former Davis Boy's Success is Depicted

The August issue of Nation's Business, a magazine published by the Chamber of Commerce of the United States, contains an illustrated story of the outstanding success of a former Davis boy – "Doc" Kirk Henington.

Title of the article id "The Wizard of Wolfe City," and the article describes his early life problems; how he entered the photograph business and devised a method to make eight photos of school kids in ten seconds; asserting that today he runs a studio in Wolfe City, Texas, that often turns out 600,000 photos a week, and his annual business grosses $250,000.

"Doc" is the son of J. I. Henington, early day barber in Davis, and nephew of the late M. C. Ferguson. He acquired his like for photography while staying in the home of the late W. R. Meador, in this city. Mrs. Meador, now Mrs. Tilley, still is in the photo business making a specialty of school pictures and outdoor scenes.

Founder of Henington Publishing Firm Dies

WOLFE city – C. K. Henington, who, through a new-found interest in photography at the age of 32 built the successful Henington Publishing Company, died at his home here Friday night at the age of 76.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church with Dr. L. T. Daniel and Revs. Robert Renfro and Justin Tull officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Mr. Henington, born Jan. 6, 1898 in Mississippi, settled in Wolfe City following a colorful career search that included building an airplane, delivering newspapers and practicing as a chiropractor.

In 1930 after moving, to Wolfe City, he made his first visit to a school to take student pictures and at the age of 32 started his business in which he became a mass producer of children's portraits. The Henington business soon became the largest in Wolfe City and now serves hundreds of schools in the Southwest.

He has been featured in a number of national publications for his accomplishments including Readers' Digest.

He was the son of Joseph I. And Ophelia McIntosch Henington and on July 20, 1924, he married Ola L. Owens in Ardmore, Okla.

She survives along with two daughters, Mrs. Allen Thomason and Mrs. Ron Wensel and 10 grandchildren all of Wolfe City; four brothers, Luther Henington of Wolfe City, Roy Henington of Gig Harbour, Wash., Joe Henington of Gig Harbour and Murrell Henington of Kodiak, Alaska, and two sisters, Mrs. Stella Swanson of Kansas City, Kan., and Mrs. Jewel Cartwright of Lufkin.

Mr. Henington was a member of the Wolfe City Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be E. M. Howard, B. T. Williams, Gene Brent, Sim F. Owens, R. G. Milton, Tom Williams, Tommy McKay and Terry Don Brent.

Owens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
