Philip O. Driscoll Jr., age 83, of Rockford, IL died at 11:30 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2012.

Born July 1, 1928, in Rockford, son of Philip O. and Frances (nee McLee) Driscoll Sr. Graduated from West High School in 1946, where he played on the basketball team. Graduate of the University of Illinois and was a lifetime athletic booster there. Following college he became a member of the prestigious CIA, being based in Washington D.C. He then started with the Brearley Corp., as personnel manager, spent several years in New York as sales manager for the East coast, returning to Rockford as vice president of sales. He retired as owner of Concord Cellular Phone Co. Phil had been a member of the Rockford Jaycees, being especially active with the Ski Train. He enjoyed winter skiing and summers at Green Lake, WI. He was an eternal optimist with a contagious laugh.

Survivors include his biological children, twins, Phyllis (Kevin) Steiner and Phillip O. Edgecomb; grandchildren, Julia (Steven) Halsted, Jacob T. Steiner and Mitchell Edgecomb; four great-grandchildren; nieces, Cindy Anderson, Shelly (Mike) Greenlee, Kathy (Tim) Naill, Bridget (Mike) Lane and Katie (Keith) Keeney; nephew, Patrick (Kim) Driscoll; and sister-in-law, Therese Driscoll.

Predeceased by his parents; sister, Maureen (Brad) Anderson; brother, Jack Driscoll; and grandson, Jordan P. Steiner.

Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 3, in the Cathedral of St. Peter, with visitation from 2:30 p.m. to time of Mass. Inurnment in Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cathedral of St. Peter.

The family was assisted by Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel.
