Herschel Tate Baker, 80, a retired timber dealer and former State representative, died at 1 p.m. Sunday at his home here.
He was a former master commissioner of Adair Circuit Court. Baker, a Republican, served in the 1924, 1936, and 1940 sessions of the Legislature.
He was a son of the late Judge H. C. Baker, Columbia.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mattie Barger Baker; three sons, Dr. Tyler A. Baker, Lake Jackson, Texas; Walter A. Baker, Glasgow attorney, and James T. Baker, Lexington; a sister, Mrs. W. D. Jones, Columbia, and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. (C.S.T.) Tuesday at the Stotts & Phelps Funeral Home here.
