Mr. Clary was born in Minneapolis. His family moved to Bemidji, Minnesota when he was 2 ½. Following the completion of his education, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. He also served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, receiving his discharge in 1954.
Mr. Clary worked as a bus, taxi and truck driver in Bemidji. After moving to Forest Grove in 1950, he worked in the sawmill for Anderson Lumber Co., later drove a truck for Nichols Logging Co. and in 1953 went to work for Convoly Transportation Co., retiring in January.
Surviving are his wife, Dea; son, Michael of Beaverton; a brother, Arnold Hegland of Coos Bay; and a step-sister, Corrine Ternes of Minneapolis.
