Railway Man, Former Area Resident Dead

Gideon Thomas Marshall of Washington, father of Clarence G Marshall, executive editor of the Daily Press, Inc., died early yesterday in Emergency Hospital, Washington at the age of 91.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at Endrs Funeral Chapel in Berryville, Clark County. Burial will be at Berryville.

Mr. Marshall is survived by his wife, Mrs. Margaret Marshall, and his only child, Clarence G Marshall.

He lived in Newport News in the early 1900's when he was in charge of the eastbound department of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway. In later years he had served as traveling auditor of the Southern Railway with headquarters in Washington.

Born in Salem-now Winston-Salem, N.C.-Mr. Marshall, as a boy, moved with his family to Hope, Ind. Railroading was his life's work. Prior to accepting a position with the Chesapeake and Ohio in Newport News, in 1897 he had been a station agent for the Big Four Raildroad in Columbus, Ind.

Mr. Marshall was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the National City Christian Church in Washington.
