PASCAGOULA --- Laura Frances Smith Baker, 70, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, in Mobile.

Mrs. Baker was a native of Chattanooga, Tenn. and was a former resident of Cleveland, Tenn. She was a resident of Pascagoula since 1958. She retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula after 25 years of service. She was a member of Eastern Star in Pascagoula.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Theodore Baker and Charles D. Smith; a son, Hobert Eugene Smith; a step-son, Roger Smith; three sisters, Louella Goodwin, Betty Walker, Edna Parton; and two brothers, Luke Brogdon and Mark L. Brogdon.

Survivors include four sisters, Alma Walters of Cleveland, Tenn., Mary Ann Burton of Benton, Tenn., Lurrie Mae Edwards of Cleveland, Shirley Branam of Benton, Tenn.; a brother, James Edward Branam of Cleveland; and an adopted sister, Ann Perkins of Pascagoula.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Serene Memorial Gardens in Escatawpa.

The family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Society. O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula is in charge of arrangements.
