Donald Dwaine Tackett, 69, of Macclenny, Fla., died Wednesday, May 16, 2007, in Jacksonville, Fla. Mr. Tackett was born March 16, 1938, in Ashland, Ky., a son of the late Noah and Mayme Hopkins Tackett. He was a truck driver for U.S. Express and a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of the Scottish Rite-Valley of Fort Myers, Fla., the SAHIB Shrine Temple of Sarasota, Fla., the Marston Masonic Lodge No. 49 of Fort McCoy, Fla., and he was a Flatwoods police officer for 10 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Marie Tackett; three brothers, Arthur Tackett, Estill Tackett and Leon Tackett; and four sisters, Mollie Cooper, Pauline Cassity, Marie Shawver and Rosalee Tackett. Mr. Tackett is survived by his wife, Barbara Daniel Tackett of Macclenny; four daughters, Kim (Mark) Tolin of Panama City, Fla., Lori (John) Ward of Pheonix, Ariz., Leah "Deedle" (Dave) Manning of Macclenny and Dawn Tackett of Fredericksburg, Va.; a brother, Frank Tackett of Raceland; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods by Cecil "Ed" Kouns. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2007, at the funeral home. Smith Lodge No. 775 F&AM will present a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Military graveside services will be conducted by VFW Post No. 8850 of Ironton.
