If my mom was alive, tomorrow, April 19, 2012, would be her 76th birthday. Mom lost her battle with Pick's Disease December 19, 2008. Pick's dementia hits people at a young age. When mom died, it had actually been about 12 years that she had not been 'with us'. I've missed almost 20 years of having my mother around. She missed seeing her grandchildren grow into early adulthood. She never met two of her granddaughters or her great-grandson. Mom would have been thrilled with how all of her grandkids have embraced life...their sports accomplishments, acting and musical talents, educational achievements...every little thing they have done. I think a lot about Mom, but especially on her birthday. No dementia in heaven! Bet she is singing with the angels! (Carol)
-------------------------
With the passing of so many elder women in my life in recent weeks, I cant help but imagine Mom standing at the gates to heaven, sweetly smiling, pushing the elevator button each time a newly arriving sister approaches... 'going up?'... Yip, every single one and mom embracing each of them to say 'thank you for watching out for my family... as I watch over them'. We still celebrate her birth and life on this day, with one of mom's special meals. Tonight?...burnt fishsticks n fries! (Stacy)
