Arthur Ray Calhoun, 87 years of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Saturday, April 28th, 2012 at his home.

He was born on October 7th, 1924 in the Oak Hill community of Pulaski County, Kentucky, son of the late Jeremiah Calhoun and Hallie Burton Calhoun. He was United States Army veteran, worked as a mechanic for Bob Waddle Buick & Pontiac Dealership, and enjoyed doing mechanic work. He was of the Church of God faith.

Arthur was survived by two sisters, Lanoir Nelson of Ferguson, Kentucky and Maxine Auterson of Cincinnati, Ohio; three nieces, Sandy Pitman of Ferguson, Kentucky, Gerry Calhoun of Somerset, Kentucky, and Charlene Calhoun of Somerset, Kentucky; three nephews, Mike Auterson of Milford, Ohio, Greg Auterson of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Mavis Calhoun of Somerset, Kentucky; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parent, Jeremiah and Hallie Calhoun; his wife, Eva Lowery Calhoun, whom he married on June 27th, 1952 in Somerset, Kentucky and she preceded him in death on August 3rd, 1998; one daughter who passed away in infancy, Glenda Rae Calhoun; two brothers, Guy Calhoun, who passed away at birth and Lawrence W. Calhoun; and one sister, Evelyn Calhoun.

Graveside services were held on Wednesday, May 2nd, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Clyde Strunk officiating. The Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky was in charge of the arrangements for Arthur.

Burial followed in the Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Somerset, Kentucky.
