He was born July 28, 1893, in Genoa, the son of Abram and Mary Abbott. He attended the Genoa schools, and for over 45 years was employed as agent and telegrapher for the Illinois Central Railroad. On June 7, 1916 he married Mabel Kirkpatrick in Genoa and she predeceased him in 1957. On June 21, 1958 he" was married to Alma Frank at Elgin. He was a member of the Epworth Methodist Church, Elgin; the Genoa Masonic Lodge, Freeport Consistory, Tebala Shrine, Rockford;Golden Star Chapter O.E.S., Genoa; and Ney Grange.
