Gerald Francis Ames also known as Jerry to some and Dusty to others. – Long time Victor Valley Resident born June 16, 1928 passed away April 26, 2012. He was a resident of the High Desert for over 50 years. He worked for North American Van Lines when he first moved to the desert with his wife, Helen and his children. Shortly after he began to work for Dana Company laying asphalt and working construction. He helped his wife Helen manage Hesperia Lakes in the late 60's. He and his family also lived for a time on the property that is now the Mojave Forks Regional Park in Summit Valley. Affectionately know as Dusty, he ran his own business, Jerry's Custom Grading, after purchasing his first tractor in 1962. Several years later he purchased a trencher and dug the footings for several local contractors. Through out his life he worked for several local companies including Pfizer and Kaiser Permanente, Combine Transport, Us Borax, Barstow Truck Parts and Gary Leslie Trucking. He was an active member of the Gold Prospectors of America, The Lost Dutchman's Mining Association, and the Au Mojave Prospectors of Hesperia, CA.

He was a generous man with a kind and caring spirit. He loved everyone unconditionally and everyone was always welcome in his home. He knew no strangers. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Ames and sons Gerald Jr and Robert Ames. He is survived by his daughter Nedra Bohrer and her husband Dewey .; his son's Walter Ames and his wife Jeri , Jerry Ames and his wife Karen, daughter in law Joan Ferris and her husband Bob, daughter in law Janet Ames, grandchildren Laura Howard and her husband Mike, Robert Ames Jr., Karena Fagan and her husband Jared, Sarah Ames and Stefanie Ames, Joseph Hebertson and his wife Alecia, Kristin Hebertson, and Brian Hebertson and eight great grandchildren:, Taylor Holleman and her husband Ryan, Lindsey Howard, Kailey Howard, Kassidy Howard, Gabby Howard, Reyna Howard, Ryan Fagan and Devin Fagan

In lieu of flowers the family requests that a random act of kindness for a stranger be done or a donation made in his name to the Cooper's House for Disadvantaged Children, affiliated with Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Happy Trails Children's Foundation, 10755 Apple Valley Rd, Apple Valley, CA 92308, 760-240-3330.
