Imogene Ruth Wilkins, age 80, of Jones Chapel Community, formerly of Addison entered into rest on Monday, April 30, 2012 at Cullman Regional Medical Center.

She was born on September 13, 1931 in Singletree, Arkansas to Troy Ellis and Eva King Ellis. Mrs. Wilkins was a lifelong member of Addison Church of God, where she taught school on Sunday and Wednesday night. She was also a member of the Ladies Ministry and Young of Heart. Her occupation was a homemaker, plant worker and an elderly caretaker. She won numerous awards for Senior retreat in making peanut brittle and playing shuffleboard. Billy nicknamed her "Mert" and some grandkids called her "Granny Mert." She was also known as Grandmother, Granny and Memaw. Mrs. Wilkins enjoyed gardening, flowers, anything outside and loved being involved with family activities.

She is survived by her sons, Samuel "Buddy" (Kay) Wilkins , Jimmy (Hope) Wilkins; daughter, Charlotte (Wade) Smith; brother, James (Kathleen) Ellis; sister, Erma Parnell; She had 9 grandchildren, Felicia (Darron) Smith Turk, Shane (Ashley) Smith, Jamie (Mark) Wilkins Woodard, Joseph (Elizabeth) Wilkins, Josh (Julie) Wilkins, Justin (Candase) Wilkins, Annalee Wilkins, Jaden Wilkins, Jacob Wilkins; 10 great-grandchildren, Kale Smith, Dexter Woodard, Brylie Turk, Kennedy Smith, Jessie Woodard, Carlie Wilkins, Jennings Turk, Macayla Wilkins, Brooks Wilkins and Mason Wilkins.

She was preceded In death by her husband, Billy C. Wilkins: father, Troy Ellis; mother, Eva Ellis Denson; and brother, Shearl Denson.
