Willie died August 8, 1955 in Tennessee and was buried in Chestnut Mound United Methodist Church Cemetery in Chestnut Mound, Tennessee (Smith County). Ella's name was carved on the double tombstone for Willie but she was not buried beside him. Ella died May 11, 2002 in Cookeville, Tennessee (Putnam County) and was buried there in the Rock Springs Church Cemetery in Buffalo Valley, Tennessee (Putnam County).
