DEATH CLOSES LIFE BOOK FOR JOHN MEANY
John Meany, lifelong resident of Manitowoc county, died at Maple Crest Sanatorium at Whitelaw last night after an illness which sent him to the institution for treatment last January. The funeral will be held Saturday morning with services at 9:30 at the St. Mary's Catholic church at Clarks Mills, the Rev. Geiling officiating. Burial will be at the Clarks Mills cemetery.
John Meany was born in Cato this county, January 1, 1854 and was sixty nine years old. He never married and remained with his parents on the farm until their death, the father being called first and in 1893 the mother died since which time he made his home alone, operating the farm until about three years ago when he retired.
Surviving him are two brothers, James of Cato and Thomas of California and a sister, Mrs. Mary Cooney of Reedsville. Mr. Meany was never identified with any lodge orders and was
never in politics.

(Note: Per census's, John's sister Mary was born about 1857, was in 1860 census with the family, then disappeard from census's. Only 2 other sisters are known, Anna & Margaret, both died young.)
