RITES ARE SET FOR CHARLES FITZGERALD, EX SPECIAL OFFICER

Funeral rites will be held at ll AM Tuesday in the Sacramento Memorial Garden Chapel for Charles Fitzgerald, 89, a special police officer in Sacramento for many years. Burial will be in the Sacramento Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Fitzgerald died Thursday in a hospital. His health had been failing a long time. He resided at 3300 Kroy Way. Born in Illinois, he was a locomotive engineer in Wyoming years ago, a police sergeant in Ogden Utah, a sheriff's deputy in Pioche, Nevada and a Southern Pacific Company employee in Carlin Nevada before moving to Sacramento 38 years ago.

In the 1920's he was a special officer at the old Bank of Italy at 6th and K streets and then a police officer at the Hotel Senator and the post office. He retired 17 years ago. Fitzgerald was a member of the Elks Lodge in Ogden.

He leaves his wife, Elizabeth Fitzgerald, a son, Lloyd of Nevada, daughters, Mrs. Helen Walker of Sacramento and Mrs. Agnes Price of Santa Rosa, Sonoma County, and a sister, Mrs. Daisy Ruhl of Sacramento.
