H. B. Cox was born in Illinois and traveled with his mother, Anna HUNNICUTT COX and brothers, James Michael and Davis B. Cox, to the Dallas area. Arriving around 1844. He and the aforementioned brothers, served in the 19th Regiment, TEXAS Cavalry (BURFORD's), Co. B, during the Civil War. He married four times and had fourteen children. H.B. was a Postmaster of Rylie Prairie, Dallas County, Texas, and helped with the layout of the streets and lots in Rylie Prairie. He was a lay minister in the Rylie Christian Church, and a farmer in his time. H.B. and his wife, Lutharia Moore Cox, were among the founding members of the Rylie Christian Church which held services until 2013. In his later years, H. B. was often interviewed for newspaper articles since he had lived in the county longer than anyone else, having arrived as a four year old and living a long life.---Janice Wheeler
