COLLISION NEAR DUMAS FATAL TO C.M. CHISM

Dumas, April 6---Carlos M. Chism, aged 25, of 3400 Mabelvale Road
died in a Dumas hospital this morning of injuries suffered in a
collision six miles south of Dumas on Highway 65 Tuesday, the 5th
of April.

Chism was injuered when the truck he was driving collided with a
sedan driven by Derwood Waldo, 33, of Pine Bluff. The accident
occurred, State Police said, when Waldo passed a wagon, ran off
the highway and in attempting to pull back, rammed the side of
the Chism truck.

Waldo's condition was reported as still serious. He suffered a
compound fracture of the right arm, and face and head lacerations.
W. H. Hurd of Pine Bluff, a passenger in Waldo's auto was reported
improved.

Chism is survived by his parents, Mr. and Ms. Cecil W. Chism, four
brothers, Jessie L, Raymond G, Dewey R, and Earl C. Chism; five
sisters, Verdee N, Ruth E, Bettie A, Irene E. Chism and Bobby
Yates.

Funeral will be held at 2 p, Thursday in the Dummond & Co. Chapel
of Little Rock, by Rev Leon Archey. Burial will be in Roselawn
Memorial Park in Little Rock, Arkansas.
