Deceased Name: Paul L. Auger 'Gentle Giant'
PITTSFIELD - Paul L. Auger, 68, of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Joy Street in Pittsfield, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at the Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association's Hospice House.
Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 26, 1938, Mr. Auger was the son of Ernest and Josephine (O'Barton) Auger.
Living most of his life in Allenstown, he had been the Allenstown road agent and had also owned and operated a metal recycling business. In addition, Mr. Auger worked for Cohen Steel Co.
A big, kind man, he was known to most as the "Gentle Giant." and enjoyed spending his free time woodcarving and being Gramp Paul to many "grandchildren."
In May of 2004, he married Elaine (Barker) Wood and was predeceased by her less than two months ago, on July 10.
He is survived by several stepchildren including, Brian Palczynski of Northwood; his caregivers, Lannie and Linda Wood of Pittsfield; a sister, Beatrice Montgomery of Paintlick, Ky.; a sister-in-law, Lucia Auger of Suncook; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Auger; and a sister, Theresa Gamache.
Graveside services will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. at the Floral Park Cemetery in Pittsfield, where the Rev. Nicholas Rogers will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association, Hospice House, P.O. Box 1797, Concord 03302.
Still Oaks Funeral and Memorial Home in Epsom is in charge of the arrangements.
