John Tracy Moody, 49, of St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2012, at his home in St. Joseph.
He was born August 1, 1962, in Oklahoma City, Okla., the son of Mary Joan and G.T. Moody.
He married Joyce C. Davis on July 8, 1995. He graduated from Canyon High School in Texas and worked at Monfort Pork and Quaker Oats as a shipping supervisor. He enjoyed his roses, spending time with his grandchildren, his dog, Romeo and all types sports. He attended DeKalb Christian Church.
John was preceded in death by his father; a son, Jarrod Moody; and his mother-in-law, Lois Davis.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce C. of the home; a son, John Ryan Moody, St Joseph; a step-daughter, Nicole (Ed) Jenkins of DeKalb, Mo.; his mother, Mary Joann Moody, Lavon, Texas; four grandchildren, Luke, Melissa, and Olivia Jenkins and Coraline Moody; two brothers: Mark Moody of Lewisville, Texas; and Mike Moody of Arizona; three sisters: Barbara Catching, Lavon, Texas; and Mary Moody and Karen Thompson, both of Amarillo, Texas; his best friend, Jim Farrell of Agency, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Monday, April 30, at 7 p.m. at the DeKalb Christian Church, Pastor Bob Day officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the Church. He will be cremated under the direction of the Rupp Funeral Home.
Memorials are requested to the American Diabetes Association or DeKalb Athletic Assn.
