Benjamin Wilbur Fudge, son of William and Ida Cox Fudge, was born near Mt. Etna in Adams County, Iowa, October 26, 1889 and departed this life July 25, 1982 at Bedford Manor, Bedford, Iowa at the age of 92 years, 8 months, and 29 days.
He moved with his father and brother and sister to Holt township, Taylor County, Iowa, when six years old and grew to maturity and attended public school and the Iveyville Methodist Church, later transferring his membership to the Maple Grove United Methodist Church.
On March 25, 1915 he was united in marriage to Eva Adelia Weech at Galesburg, Illinois. They lived in Holt Township all of their married life.
Two children were born to this union, Wilma Lock and Kenneth Fudge. Wilbur was engaged in farming all of his active years.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Eva, who passed away June 1, 1970; one sister, Edith Naven; a brother Arthur, and one great granddaughter Maria Weed.
Left to cherish his memory are a daughter, Wilma and her husband Glen of Gravity; a son Kenneth and his wife Bernice of Creston, seven grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 5 step great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the Maple Grove United Methodist Church, Guss, Iowa and Modern Woodmen of America.
He was a kind and considerate husband, father, friend, and neighbor, and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services were held at Maple Grove Church at Guss, July 29 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Sara Malone officiating. Burial was in Prairie Rose Cemetery, Corning, Iowa.
Music was provided by Gladys Combs, pianist and Lorele Rusco, vocalist. Pallbearers were Paul and Alvin Mitchell, Hollis Naven, Irvin Miller, Gerald Maxwell, and Darrell Schrader. Honorary bearers were Ralph Harvey, Arthur and Roy Kapple, Myrle Fishell, Linn Boswell, Ralph Schooling, and Henry Bycroft.
