Floy Anna Curl of Braman, Oklahoma, died Wednesday evening, February 29, 2012, in the Presbyterian Manor in Arkansas City, Kansas, at the age of 83 years.

Floy Anna Curl was born on October 4, 1928, in Dilworth, Oklahoma, to Robert and Viola (Elwood) Gibson. She grew up in Dilworth attending Dilworth Public Schools before graduating from Braman High School in 1946. She then furthered her education by attending Northern Oklahoma Junior College in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, where she earned an Associate of Business degree in 1948. She worked as a bank teller for the First National Bank of Braman. She married James Kenneth Curl on May 15, 1949, in Braman and they settled on a farm west of Braman where she served her family as a homemaker and assisted with the family farming operation. She was actively involved with her children in 4-H and other school activities. In 1970 she began working as a postal clerk for the Braman Post Office until her retirement in 1989. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Braman and the Variety Fun Club. She enjoyed quilting at home and church and entered many quilts in the county fair where she won several ribbons.

She is survived by a daughter, Janet Bergman and husband Arthur of Vernon, Texas; a son, Jim Curl and wife Cathy of Braman, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Melissa Mathes of Stephenville, Texas, Seth Bergman of Kyle, Texas, Christa Curl of Orange City, Iowa, and Patrick Curl of Braman, Oklahoma; and four great grandchildren, Charity, Chrysann and William Whitworth and Meredith Mathes all of Stephenville, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Dorotha Wells; and a brother, Archie Gibson.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 5th in the First United Methodist Church in Braman with the Rev. C. M. Wilson of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Braman Cemetery.

The nephews of Floy Anna Curl will serve as casketbearers and the Quilting Service Group will serve as honorary casketbearers.

A memorial has been established in her honor with the First United Methodist Church in Braman in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
