HAMPTON— Betty Jean Caldwell, 72, passed away Tuesday Feb. 5, 2008.

A native of Horry County, S. C., Betty moved to the Peninsula in the early 1950's. She joined Victory Baptist Church shortly after moving to the area and has been a faithful member every since. Betty was a loving and caring mother and wife, making a wonderful home for her family. She always was attentive to the needs of her household, meticulously stretching sometimes modest resources, where nobody wanted for anything.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Caldwell.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra F. & Carl Warner; sons and daughter-in-law, Randall S. & Leslie B. Caldwell Sr., Arnold Ray Faircloth; sister, Isla Louise Hughes; grandchildren, Kimlee Benson and fiancee, David Bass, Kara Warner and fiancee, Kenny Eanes, Randall S. Caldwell Jr., Lucille Ellis Shirk and husband, David, Hannah E. Cordero and husband, Brian; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn A. Benson, Taylor Bass, Cameron J. Warner, Adrianna E. Shirk, and Rebecca Shirk.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday Feb. 9, 2008, at Victory Baptist Church with Pastor Samuel Hyde officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home.

Service arrangements are under the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home 2551 N. Armistead Ave. Hampton.
