Miller was born Oct. 2, 1916, at Cairo, Ill., to William and Mary Reed Miller.
He married Helen Brugger, April 23, 1936, in Jackson. She died May 15, 1985. He then married Imogene Hanna, June 24, 1988 in Cape Girardeau and she survives.
Surviving are three sons, Robert Miller, Mt. Vernon, Ill.; Joseph Miller, Houston, Tx.; and John Miller, St. Louis; three stepsons, William Hanna, Cape Girardeau; Mark Hanna, Belleville, Ill.; and Kent Hanna, Chaffee; three daughters, Mary Helen Smith, St. Louis; Mrs. Paul Deborah Lappe, Cape Girardeau; and Mrs. Vernon Susie Pobst, Oran; three stepdaughters, Diane Evans, Oran; Sharon Polito, Cape Girardeau; and Tammy Rister, Chaffee.
Two sisters, Alfreda Bohnert and Stella Miller, both of Cape Girardeau; also survive along with 20 grandchild and 10 great grandchildren.
A son, Larry Miller, died in 1960.
Miller was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish and Perryville American Legion Post and he was a veteran of World War II in the Navy.
He was an employee of International Shoe and a National Life Insurance salesman. Then he was a self-employed plumber and also worked with B.W. Birk Co. and Riverview Supply Co. His final employment was with Rhodes Oil Co. retiring in 1978.
Miller was also manager of Knights of Columbus bowling lane from 1959 to 1965. For many years he umpired softball leagues in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral mass will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Art Basler officiating.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 4 p.m. to 8p.m. with parish prayer Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at Ford and Sons Funeral Home.
