He was born May 9, 1928, in Franklin, son of the late Marion Edward and Tallie Roper Tallent of Macon County.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Nobia Tallent of Franklin and Sophia Measimer of Charlotte; and a brother, Hobart Tallent also of Franklin.
Clifford is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen Hanna Tallent; his children, Kathy Ferguson and husband Lyle of Ocoee, Fla., Julie Rebecca Burgin of Alexis, Clifford Paul Tallent and his wife Heather of Arab, Ala., and Myra Tallent Baker and husband Saxon of Gastonia; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Tracy Tallent and his wife Carolyn of Gastonia; two sisters, Betty Cloninger of Gastonia and Thelma Cubler of Dunellen, Fla. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Tallent will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, at Craig Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Rankin and the Rev. Trent Rankin officiating.
Burial will follow at New Hope Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 4537 South New Hope Road, Gastonia.
Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly is serving the Tallent family.
