Earlier researchers of the Bailey family noted that Thompson could have been interred at the Washington Confederate Cemetery at Hagerstown, within Rose Hill, in an unmarked grave. Only 3 of the 2000 soldiers buried there were marked. Though he died at Monocacy, and not Antietam - various Confederate troops were interred; according to the cemetery history. See the cemeteries for more descriptions. Two monuments placed by the State of Maryland and the State of West Virginia stand in honor of those men - see photos at (#19534). At the Monocacy National Battlefield in Frederick county, which is now part of the National Park Service, a monument placed by the Fitzhugh Lee Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy is dedicated to the memory of the southern men who perished. It is the sole Confederate marker at the site: Monocacy National Battlefield United Daughters of the Confederate Monument. Other monuments are dedicated to the fallen of Union units. See photos and descriptions at www.nps.gov/mono/. Staff have indicated the possibility that Mr. Minor was interred at Mt. Olivet. Whether his location can be verified with further research is uncertain. This phrase contributed by his great great grandson : " The NPS staff at the battlefield believed him to be buried in an 'unknown' grave at Mt. Olivet cemetery in Frederick, MD. There are a number of Southern soldiers there in a very well tended location on church grounds."
Mt. Olivet cemetery in Frederick county is also included in the FindaGrave database.
