Shirley (Mumsy) Loraine Jensen James, 77, passed away March 17, 1996 at her home after a short illness.

Born October 8, 1918 in Richfield, Utah to Chester and Allie Kyhl Jensen. She married William Stan James in Tooele, Utah on February 14, 1940. He preceded her in death May 21, 1978. Shirley led a varied life including hotel owner, cab company owner, waitress, Utah State Fish and Game receptionist and beloved mother of three. She was active in several fraternal organizations including the Rebecca's, Queen of the West Lodge #22, The Ladies Oriental Shrine, Iris Court #47, Lybia Temple, Daughters of the Nile and Martha Chapter #7, Order of Eastern Star. She was a Past State President and Past International Musician of the Rebecca's, the musician for Iris Court, L.O.S. for 10 years, Past Worthy Matron of Martha Chapter #7 and Past Grand Organist OES of Utah.

Survived by her three children, William Jerry James (Sharon), Salt Lake City; Stanley Leroy James (Jo Ann), Midvale; Jeannine Slaymaker (Ted), Murray; 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.


Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 21, 1996 at 12 Noon in the Goff Mortuary Chapel 8090 So. State where friends may call Wednesday 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 10:45-11:45 a.m. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens.

Love of life and music was her trademark. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be sent to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.
