Booker T. Henderson Jr. was born in Pawnee, Oklahoma on November 21, 1928. He was born at home to Booker T. Henderson Sr. and Minnie Mae (Williams) Henderson. Booker attended grammar school in Pawnee and continued his education when the family moved to Oklahoma City in 1941.
Booker enlisted in the United States Navy and served one enlistment. Upon his honorable discharge June 10, 1952 he returned to Oklahoma City first and then he went to Pueblo Colorado to spend time with his grandfather Frank Henderson. He then left Colorado for Phoenix, Arizona and lived with his Uncle Cecil Judie. Booker was invited to Arkansas City Kansas by his cousin Cecil Judie Jr. in 1957.
Booker met and married Flora Dean Brown on March 7, 1959. He was employed at the A.C. Office Building working in maintenance and in the summers worked as a lifeguard at Carver Park Swimming pool. In 1965 he left the A.C. Office Building and was hired to work in maintenance at General Electric (G.E) Strother Field. He eventually moved up from maintenance and was trained and employed as a small engine parts inspector. He retired from G.E. after 24 years of dedicated service.
Booker was an avid golfer and won several tournament trophies. He had a colorful sense of humor and was a creative storyteller. He was proud of his Muscogee Creek Nation tribal heritage.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Flora; siblings, Gerald Barnett and wife Jeanne, Jake Gates Jr., Vernita (Henderson) McCoy, Rose Morales all of Oklahoma City; children, Vickie Revita Henderson, Steven LaVeris Henderson and wife Linda, Crystal Henderson, Deborah Jones all of Oklahoma City; Devra Henderson of Detroit, Michigan; Michael Dean Henderson I and wife Kelly, Wayne Oliver all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Everitt Godwin of Menlo Park, California; Patrick Ronald Henderson I and wife Tara, Aurora, Colorado; C. Jeff Henderson and wife Linda, Arkansas City.
Grandchildren; Camille Ja'net Henderson, Michael Dean Henderson II, Drew Henderson, Rhett Henderson, Patrick Ronald Henderson II, Kiesha Henderson, Sean LaVeris Henderson, Thyatira Henderson, Anthony Henderson, Yakee Henderson, Yhanice Henderson, Micah Lea Harris, Leslie Huddleston, Tarez Huddleston, Ashanti Huddleston.
Great-Grandchildren; Aleighna Henderson, Anthony M. Henderson, Cristian J. Mays, Carlos Mays, Chelsea Mays, Hannah Henderson, Jesse Henderson, Makyah Henderson, Santana Henderson-Quezada, Selena Henderson, Vanessa Henderson, Brianna Huddleston, Kianna Huddleston and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Laveris Henderson, Raymond Henderson, Gayle Pitts, Rudolph Gates, Donald Gates, sisters Jewel Henderson, Revita Henderson, Juanita (Henderson) Jackson, one infant son Shawn Mitchell Henderson and one grandson Brant Tristan Henderson.
