MORTON - Thomas D. "Tom" Branan, 79, of Morton died at 11:43 p.m. on Sunday, May 6, 2012, at his residence.
He was born on Feb. 23, 1933, in Barnes City, Iowa, to Clayton and Gladys Neuman Branan. He married Kesta "Elise" Johnston in 1951. She preceded him in death on Sept. 5, 1997, in Peoria. He later married Norma Wyatt on Sept. 30, 1997, in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Paul (Tina) Branan, Robert (Flora) Branan and Michael (Jo) Branan, all of Peoria; one daughter, Joy (Keith) Flatt of East Peoria; one stepson, Bob Wyatt of Washington; one stepdaughter, Connie (Bruce) Helms of Washington; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Robert Branan; and two brothers.
Tom served his country for 10 years in the Air Force during the Korean War era.
He worked in the Tool Crib for more than 30 years at Caterpillar in East Peoria, retiring in 1994. He also worked in the emergency room at Proctor Hospital for 25 years as an emergency room tech.
He loved life, and loved to travel. He especially loved visiting Branson, Mo.
Cremation rites will be accorded. There will be no service. Inurnment will be in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is handling arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Bethel Memorial United Church in Creve Coeur.
