Spokesman (Spokane, Wash.) Review, 18 November 1998, p. C8: "SELVES, Alvina M. "Hemingway" (Age 87) — Entered into rest November 16, 1998 in Medical Lake. She was a Spokane resident for 70 years. Alvina was the Past Worthy Matron of Adelphi Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and past Guardian of Jobs Daughters, Bethel 1 and 60. She also was Grand Guardian of of Jobs Daughters of the State of Washington, and volunteered at the Shriners Hospital for over 50 years. Alvina was also a homemaker. She is survived by her two daughters, Jana Brooks and friend, Jean Irlbeck of Olympia and Marilyn Sullivan and friend, Fred Fricke of Spokane; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Alvina was preceded in death by her husband, Glen in 1963 and a brother, Lee Hemingway. A private family Graveside Service will be held. RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME N. 4305 DIVISION is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be given to Shriners Hospital."
