Boggs, William (Bill) Lundy, 89, of Wichita, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2012. He was born in Winfield, Kansas, the oldest son of Paul Revere Boggs and Vera Marie Boggs. He is survived by his wife of almost 71 years, Delpha Boggs, one brother, Robert Ray Boggs of Winfield, Kansas., one son, Larry Boggs and wife Cindy of Kimberling City, MO. And one daughter, Janis L. Dunaway and husband Jim of Wichita, Kansas. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Brent Boggs of Wichita, Keicha Wagoner of Kimberling City, MO., Jennifer Parks of Wichita and David Parks of Kansas City, MO., and one great grandchild. He was a lifelong resident of Wichita. He served in the Army during World War II. He took his training at Ft. Hood, Texas, in the Message Center, working with codes. He was sent to Philippines in the South Pacific and he came out of the service at the end of the war as a Tech Sargent 3rd Class "Entertainment Specialist." He played his beloved fiddle with the KFH Ark Valley Boys until they moved to KANS radio as the Corral Gang. He was also "Fiddlin'Willie Boggs" on Dusty's Jamboree which was aired on KAKE TV. He was taught to tune pianos by one of his fellow band members, and he loved working for himself. He eventually bought a book and taught himself how to paint signs, which led him down another path in life by starting Boggs Sign Company in 1952, in which he was joined by his son in 1966 and grew to be one of the leading sign companies in Wichita until they sold out and semi-retired in 1991. Bill was a great mentor, in fact he was responsible for hiring and training several friends and family members in the sign business over the years. He was a member of Glen Park Christian Church, Albert Pike Masonic Lodge, Wichita Consistory, Midian Shrine, where he played with the Hillbilly Band for almost 50 years. He also belonged to Wichita Hi-12 with the Wichita Retired Businessmens' Club. He was also a founding member of the Sons of the Desert Laughing Gravy Tent Oasis # 229 of Wichita, Kansas. Viewing was held on Wednesday May 9, 2012 from 12 to 8 pm with family receiving friends 7 to 8 pm and funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Resthaven Mortuary Chapel. Memorials could be sent to Midian Plane of Mercy.

The "Oby" Victory family would like to extend our condolences to the Bill Boggs family. Bill was a big part of our life when we were growing up. Our daddy played with Bill in the band as well as sang with him in the Victory Trio. We have wonderful memories of him on Dusty's Jamboree, KANS Corky's Coral Gang, and the KFH Ark Valley Boys. They even played on flat-bed trucks at the opening of a number of local stores. We always chuckled at the way he moved his mouth when he played his fiddle. What an excellent musician. He will be missed. Blessings to the rest of the family.

I had crossed paths with Bill several times while visiting my father, Dawson Fields, at Reflection Ridge. My dad sure thought a lot of him, and from what I know of Bill I can see why. I can only imagine what a wonderful husband and father he must have been. 71-years of marriage is a great testimony! I regret never getting the opportunity to hear him play his fiddle! May his death be a celebration of his life!

I had the pleasure of getting to meet Bill when he came to sing and play with my dad Oby Victory, and uncle Bud Victory, when we had country & western day at our church. The harmony those 3 had was goose bump harmony. My prayers go out to the family, but he is now playing on the BIG stage in the sky. He is the only person that showed me the difference in a fiddle and a violin. He will be missed.

Bill was a wonderful fiddler and an all-around great guy. I'll miss visiting and playing music with him.

I didn't know Bill personally but my dad St. Elmo Wilson lived next foor to him on Harding St. in the 50'.

I had the pleasure of getting to meet Bill when he came to sing and play with my dad Oby Victory, and uncle Bud Victory, when we had country & western day at our church. The harmony those 3 had was goose bump harmony. My prayers go out to the family, but he is now playing on the BIG stage in the sky. He is the only person that showed me the difference in a fiddle and a violin. He will be missed.
