.D. Whitaker, 64, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Indianapolis.
He was born Oct. 8, 1938, in Hazard, Ky. His parents were Joe and Callie (Gambill) Whitaker. He married Grethel (Coldwell) Whitaker. She survives. Other survivors include five sisters, Viola Williams, Mae Stidham and Loretta Daniels, all of Hazard, Ky., and Ida Blythe and Mattie Stamper, both of Austin; three brothers, Jack Whitaker and Jesse Whitaker, both of Hazard, Ky., and Shade Whitaker of Chicago.
He was employed by Ball Co. of Columbus as a palletizer operator for 33 years, retiring in 1996.
