Ambrose Fox Drowns
Michael Ambrose Fox, 29, of Girard, drowned in the Crawford County State Park swimming pool north of Pittsburg about 1 o'clock Saturday morning. His body was recovered about 2:30 a.m. by County and City officers and others.
Mr. Fox had been riding with Bob Crayton of Girard and Miss Juanita Yobe of Pittsburg. Arriving at the park, he decided to go swimming while the others waited. When they discovered he was in trouble they went to a neighboring service station to summon help.
Mr. Fox was born at Greenbush, March 11, 1908. He lived here with his mother, Mrs. Jennie Fox, and his sister, Miss Veronica Fox. He was employed at the M & B Oil Service Station here. He was a member of the St. Michael's Catholic Church.
Besides his mother and sister, Veronica, he leaves another sister, Mrs. Beatrice Graham of Leeton, MO., and four half brothers, Joe and James Fox of Walnut, Pete Fox of Iola and Ed Fox of Hutchinson, and three half sisters, Sister Elizabeth of Fort Scott, Sister Camillus and Gertrude of Hutchinson.
Funeral Services were held in St. Michael's Catholic Church here at 9 o'clock Monday morning with Father Lambert of Frontenac in charge. Burial was at St. Aloysius cemetery at Greenbush.
