Funeral services for Gerald Harris Allen of Brashear were held Thursday in the Tapp Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Clyde Thomas and the Rev. Robert Ridley officiating. Burial was in the Brashear Cemetery with Dean Howie, Jimmy McKinney, Joe Gibson, Jack Smith, Gene George, Leon Watkins, Heriot Barker and Rayburn Smith as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Dub Murphy, Harold Miller and Junior Childress.

Mr. Allen died Tuesday at his home. He was 68. He was born Jan. 20, 1918, in Hughes Springs. He married Irene Green May 2, 1960, in Texarkana. She survives of Brashear.

Mr. Allen was a salesman with Murphy Building Supply and a member of the Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Other survivors include two sons, J.B. Keller of Linden and Jerry Murphy of Pittsburgh, Pa.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one brother, Joe Lane Allen of Hughes Springs.
