In Scott, Nov. 11, 1856, of consumption, Martha, wife of Eld. A. W. Coon, and daughter of Dea. Nathan Lanphear, of Alfred, aged 36 years. Sister Coon embraced religion in early life, from which time her deportment was meek, self-denying, and devout, and the closing scene was such as to testify to the preciousness of a well-tried hope, or, to use her own expressive words, "A hope without an if." Her views of Christ and glory seemed more and more ecstatic as she neared the celestial port, and when about to cast anchor within the veil, she whispered, "All is peace," and sleeps in Jesus.
