Roy Samuel Felkey was born on March 23, 1921 in Pemberville, Ohio. He was the youngest of nine children.
He graduated from Pemberville High School, and he was a great baseball player. His baseball team won the Ohio state championship one year.
From what I know, Roy was a real sweetheart - he loved his parents very much - and he had a lot of friends.
He was the baby of the family (he was a lot younger than his siblings and most of his nieces and nephews) and he'll always be remembered as young and energetic.
On November 22, 1941, Roy was a riding with a group of friends down the Woodville-Genoa Road when their car skidded and crashed into a pole. Roy, who was sitting in the front seat, and the driver (his eighteen year old friend, Clyde McCoy) were both thrown to the road and died of skull fractures. The other two friends in the backseat were treated for minor cuts and bruises.
Everyone was a little shaken up by the loss of Roy; he seemed like the kind of young fellow that would be around forever and it caught everyone by surprise. He was a real angel, and he loved everybody - even those who didn't always treat him right.
Roy is still loved and missed, and he'll never be forgotten.
He was my great great grand uncle.
