OBITUARY
Mr. G. R. Stephenson, of the Rural Dale Baptist church, died Dec. 29, 1892, at 11:45 p. m. He was born in Ohio, April, 1840, and was married to Miss Ruth Hall, of Morgan county, Ohio, March 30, 1865, where they resided until 1870, when they moved to Iowa, and in 1881 they moved to the farm where he died, after being confined to his bed for two weeks. He united with the Rural Dale Baptist church, Feb. 1886. He was a substantial member of the church, and of great value to the church, and one who will be greatly missed both in the church and by N. G. R. Association. He was serving the second year as a member of the Executive Board, of which he was a valuable member. He leaves a companion, two daughters and three sons to survive him. His oldest son is in the U. S. Army. The oldest daughter has been teaching for several years in Kansas. She was married the Tuesday before her father's death, and in company with her husband and her second brother, who was also teaching in Smith county, Kansas, arrived at home in time to attend the funeral. The youngest daughter has been attending Avalon College, this winter, and the youngest son has been at home in charge of the farm. The wife and three children are members of the Baptist church. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. I. S. Lowry, on Sabbath. The Rural Dale church could not seat the people, as the congregation was so large. He was buried by Masonic Order, many attending from Trenton and Loredo. J.M. Robb
