Ada Frances Annie COWIE, nee GAUDIN
Ada was born at Makarora OTG on 19 Sep 1893, the eldest daughter of George and Annie GAUDIN, who operated a saw mill up the Wilkin River. John Thomas COWIE and Ada GAUDIN met in the Hawea area and married at Luggate, Otago on 25 Jun 1913. They had 13 children and all grew to adulthood and married and families of their own, except son James Lindis who was a rear gunner in a Stirling aircraft in World War II and died when his plane was shot down over Germany on 22 Nov 1943. John AKA Jack and Ada lived most of their married lives at Ardgour, near Tarras and are buried in the Cromwell Cemetery.
