Rodney Arthur Hiles, 77, of Sugarcreek Township, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at home. He was born March 24, 1935, in Bradys Bend Township, a son of the late William Arthur Hiles and Nettie Vance (Wiles) Hiles and he lived in the area all of his life. Prior to retirement, Rodney had been employed as a supervisor for Indspec Chemical Corp. He was a member and deacon of St. Paul's Community Church in Chicora. Rodney assisted in the starting of the Sugarcreek Ambulance Service and received with a Distinguished Service Award in recognition of his exceptional leadership and devoted service. He also served as an EMT from 1976 to 1989 and also with Sugarcreek Township Fire Company. Rodney is survived by his wife, Edith Hiles, of Sugarcreek Township; sons, Robert Hiles, of Kittanning, and Scott Hiles, and his wife, Marcy, of Sugarcreek Township; daughter, Kimberly Maycock and her husband, Jay, of Kittanning; grandsons, Heath McCrea, of Sugarcreek Township, Rodney J. Hiles, of Kittanning, and Robert Dodds, of Cleveland, Ohio; granddaughters, Alisha Maycock, of East Franklin Township, and Leah Vlassich and her husband, Walter, of Sugarcreek Township; and great-grandchildren, Thomas J. Vlassich and Jacob Vlassich, both of Sugarcreek Township. In addition to his parents, of Sugarcreek Township, Rodney was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Britany M. Maycock, of East Franklin Township. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME in Kittanning. Additional visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul's Community Church with the Rev. Dr. Randall Forester officiating. Interment at St. Paul's Community Church.
