William L. Phelps, Sr., 83, passed away May 8, 2012. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 11, at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at Liberty Church of Christ, 1401 Glenn Hendren Dr., Liberty, MO 64068. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. Fairhaven Loop, Strafford, MO 65757 www.fairhavenchildrenshome.com Bill was born April 17, 1929, in Springfield, MO, to Otto and Elsie (Lane) Phelps. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He worked 31 years for the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. He was a member of V.F.W. Lodge 8100, Grandview, MO, DAV and Military Order of the Cooties. He was a past elder and presently a deacon of the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; step mother, Lela Phelps; brother, Tom, sisters, Elloine Hansen and Betty Plumlee. He leaves his wife, Jeanette; children, Jerry Phelps and his wife Connie, Helen (Phelps) Garzee, Bill Phelps, Jr. and his wife Viveca, Harold Phelps and his wife Donna and John Phelps and his wife Timarie; brother, Robert Phelps; 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
