IRON MOUNTAIN - Donald A. Boucher, 87, 1118 S. Lincoln Road, Escanaba, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2012, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iron Mountain.

He was born on March 27, 1925, in Escanaba, son of August and Marie (Berens) Boucher. Don graduated from Escanaba High School in 1943.

Don served in the Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946. He served in Rhineland and Central Europe. He received the EAME Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. In September 2011, he was selected for the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. He was escorted by his grandson-in-law, Rick Clifton.

On Sept. 30, 1946, Donald married Joan Noskey at All Saints Church in Gladstone.

Don began working at Mead Paper Company in 1946, retiring as a millwright foreman in 1987.

He loved to golf, playing baseball and dartball in the younger years, and was involved in two bowling leagues. Don was baptized Catholic.

He is survived by his wife, Joan of Escanaba; two daughters, Diane Boucher of Escanaba and Nancy Deremer of Eureka, Calif.; four grandchildren, Amy, Jimmy, Amity and Nicholas; three great-grandchildren, Devin, Morgan, and Anna; two sisters, Mary Ann (Roy) Henderson Sr. of Escanaba and Joan (Francis) Derouin of Soo Hill; four brothers, Richard (Arlove) of Victorville, Calif., Roderick (Cindy) of Soo Hill, Thomas (Laurel) of Racine, Wis., and Michael (Betty) of Soo Hill; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, James.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 9, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with Deacon Terry Saunders officiating.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
